Established in 1991, Coorg Golf Links (CGL) stands as a testament to a rich legacy woven with passion, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. From its humble beginnings, CGL has evolved into a premier destination for golf enthusiasts, seamlessly blending the artistry of greenskeeping with the enchanting landscapes of Coorg.<\/p>

The genesis of CGL can be traced back to 1987 when a group of dedicated golfers envisioned transforming a neglected wetland in Virajpet into a world-class golf course. The vision took root, and in 1991, the first meeting was held at North Coorg Club, marking the formal institution of Coorg Golf Links.<\/p>

An ambitious project requires visionary leaders, and CGL found its champions in the form of a council of promoters. Mr. K K Aiyapa assumed the role of President, with Mr. M Machia Cariappa as the Honorary Secretary and Mr. C A Muthanna as the Honorary Treasurer. Their commitment laid the groundwork for what would become a golfing haven.<\/p>

The journey from dream to reality was not without its challenges. Legal hurdles, financial constraints, and the intricate task of shaping fairways tested the mettle of the CGL team. However, by November 1991, the first 100 Founder Members were on board, and the dream started taking a concrete form.CGL boasts of being one of the few privately owned Golf courses in the country.<\/p>

The arduous work of transforming the neglected wetland into a nine-hole golf course began on a war footing. The topography of the land underwent significant changes, and the meticulous planning of tee-boxes, greens, and irrigation systems became the focal point. By December 1993, the nine-hole golf course became a reality.<\/p>

The popularity of CGL soared, evident in its affiliations with 72 clubs across India and 4 International destinations. The commitment to encouraging golf in the youth materialized in successful junior programs, producing both professionals and high-potential players. The course’s growth, both in infrastructure and membership, laid the foundation for a promising future.<\/p>

Coorg Golf Links isn’t just a golf course; it’s an immersion into the natural beauty of Coorg. The meticulously tended greens are framed by vibrant flora, creating an environment where golf and nature coexist in perfect harmony. The course hosts around 16 tournaments during the season, including the South India Junior Golf Tournament.<\/p>

Carefully sculpted into a plateau surrounded by the undulating hills of Coorg, our flagship Golf course is a par-70, 6100-yard masterpiece. Situated at Bittangala, a mere five kilometers from Virajpet, Coorg Golf Links proudly holds the distinction of being the first grass-surfaced 18-hole course in the region.<\/p>

A defining feature of our course is the meticulously designed undulating fairways, adorned with strategically placed bunkers. Within our 18-hole course, each of the holes stand out, both challenging and demanding \u2013 however the 3rd, 5th and the 6th are unique in itself. These holes are a true test of a golfers prowess, promising to challenge ones skills while treating your senses to stunning surroundings.<\/p>

A visual spectacle off the back tee, the 2nd hole requires a strategic approach. The tee shot over a water expanse demands precision, ensuring you avoid the cardinal sin of falling short. With bunkers flanking the green’s edges at just under 148 yards to the front, factoring in the breeze is crucial in club selection. The green, sloping from back to front, presents tricky putts, making it essential to aim for pin height to set up a birdie opportunity.<\/p>

The 18th Hole: A Grand Finale<\/strong><\/em>
The dramatic conclusion unfolds on a monstrous 447-yard, par-four canvas. A bridge gracefully arches over a water body, enhancing the spectacle of the dog-leg fairway flowing from right to left. An under-hit second shot risks water hazards or deep bunkers, while an over-hit shot may encounter thick rough and bunkers. The green itself is a challenge, sloping from the top with multiple breaks, demanding precision and skill to conquer.<\/p>
